Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0945hrs PF Platoon # 157 at BS756490 sprung their ambush resulting in 1 VC KIA, 2 VC WIA, and 1 AK 50 CIA (new condition) and 1 PF KIA and 1 PF WIA, info was provided by the Duc My Security Chief. At 1600hrs Intelligence from CPT Parker, between 2200hrs and 0100hrs the night of 10 and 11 August 1970, 10 VC at BS753647 moved to and destroyed a bridge (bamboo) at BS743644. They then moved to the south to BS737525. The reason the bridge was destroyed was that it was used to resupply the RF on Nui Cay. Another report by civilians is that there area 2 large (tunnels) at BS737667 by the Village Chief. Bravo Company will work the area with guides from the Village on 13 August 1970. At 1725hrs 26 Engineer report a total of 42 hours were worked clearing 40 acres in the area BS687588 to BS687584 to BS690584 to BS690588 destroying 8 bunkers, 100 meters of trench, 1 booby trap and 1 homemade AP device, 1 AP device and a Chinese made "bouncing betty". Also 1 81mm Mortar round, 3 two pound blocks of explosives (black Powder), French Antipersonnel mines, 1 60mm mortar round and 12 shotgun shells.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the Access Road.
Bravo Company
August 11, 1970
At 0003hrs Bravo Company we took two rounds of CS rounds of 40mm size from BS689607 and engaged the tree line with small arms and fired illumination to check the area with negative finding. The enemy grid is BS677608 and CPT. Parker wanted clearance to fire, 50 cal and was told to use his own judgment.
Charlie Company

At 0315hrs Charlie Company 72 and the PF element took some AK 47 rounds and fired Artillery Illumination in the area checked with negative finding grid BS702588. The rounds came from the southwest no casualties or damage. At 1259hrs Charlie Company with swept to BS718544. At 1350hrs Charlie Company 70, 43, 32 element Day Logger is at BS718544 with the 52 element still moving. At 1355hrs Charlie Company 72 element had a bull dossier hit a 155 round, booby trap at BS685584 1 US WIA with multiple frag wounds to arms, legs and chest request a Urgent Dust Off completed at 1408hrs Engineer personnel. At 1845hrs Charlie Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position at 720550. At 1915hrs Charlie Company 52 element received 20-30 rounds of semi automatic fire from 300 meters to their east. 1 came from a tree line in checking area received more sniper fire from the north and south with negative finding. At 1935hrs Charlie Company 72 element requests a priority Dust Off for 1 US who is very ill with nausea and stomach pains grid BS702588 and completed at 2052hrs to Bronco.
Delta Company

At 0642hrs Delta Company the 32 element has a temporary Day Logger at BS755571 and later the 32 and 52 elements will combined at BS775580. Delta Company will be conducting multiply patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 1610hrs Delta Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for one US with frag wounds to both legs from Petna explosive type booby trap with pressure release device, it was on the trail beside a stump. The WIA was Evans. At 1700hrs Delta Co we swept the Ville at BS703550 and found some documents, a book with a list of guerillas which is believed to be an accounting book, 150 meters east of the same grid we found along narrow tunnel with a POW checking it out. The tunnels ends both had entrances and another hiding place large enough for 2 people was found the tunnel was blown. At 1823hrs the Delta Company 32 request an Urgent Dust Off for two US who step on a booby trapped hand frag with trip wire attached in the elephant grass near a ditch BS764575. Both have multiple frag wounds and request blood A+ and O- on the chopper. Names SGT Jerry H. Korff (Multiple frag wounds chest, left leg and right shoulder), SGT Daniel Doubrava (trau Amp Right Leg, Frag wounds left leg, Left foot, right thigh and right arm loss) evac to 91st Evac Hospital completed at 1835hrs and SP4 Randall D. Evans (Multiple frag wounds to both legs) where evac to the 91st Evac Hospital complete at 1603hrs.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0455hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 3 for a total expend HE 37 and Illumination 15 rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0629hrs Recon the 54 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 0635hrs Recon Platoon we found a booby trap on the south side of the north OP at BS752432. A claymore was set up to blow the trap and 1 155 artillery round went off and in checking two 105 rounds and 1 4.2 mortar round were found and an EOC team blew the trap in place. There was a trip wire across the trail. At 0723hrs Recon Platoon we will be at BS750372 today. At 0940hrs Recon our ambush for tonight is at BS753383 and will arrive first thing in the morning.
