Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0215hrs LZ Liz Bravo Company reports Bunker #1 saw 4 VC/NVA walk up hill towards Bunker #4, stop and huddle in a small group, then go back down the hill and looks like one was carrying a weapon reaction now putting in 81mm mortars. At 0920hrs 11th Light Infantry Brigade: Brigade notice DATE/TIME 110845hrs MPC change all US personnel on Fire Bases will remain there unless tactical operations. There will be no contact with civilians until after MPC conversion is complete. Any unit having nationals in their employ will immediately have them removed from installation. No laundry, ice, etc. runs to further notice. At 1110hrs FAC 31 is putting Air Strike into grid BS855372, grid is cleared.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 2110hrs LZ Bronco, we are now on gray alert at this time.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is at their Stand Down located in Chu Lai.
Bravo Company
August 11, 1969
Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. Security Platoon Dust Off two personnel with high temp possible malaria around 1040hrs Bravo Company last name McCoy.
Charlie Company
August 11, 1969
At 0615hrs Both Charlie Company Recon in Force patrols moved out at this time. At 0630hrs vicinity BS807454 the 21 element observed 1 VC/NVA with automatic weapon he opened fire and the 21 element returned fire and called in Artillery as the VC/NVA fled with negative results. At 0815hrs the 21 element closed on Charlie Company 91 closed on Charlie Company at 0900hrs and Charlie Company leaving Night Defense Position for the Day Location. At 0915hrs Charlie Company spotted 5 VC/NVA dressed in green uniforms with weapons headed south, putting in artillery on location and will check area as we move to Day Logger, enemy location BS822456. At 1815hrs Charlie Company Psyops team with Charlie picked up 1 female, 30years old, VCS, she admits to working with the VC for 1 year they are holding her until in the morning when we will have the Command and Control helicopter pick her up. At 1925hrs Charlie Company as we were moving out of our Day Logger spotted 4 to 7 (VC/NVA), and we took them under fire with M-16 and M-60 they evaded ran into tree line we went and checked out the area with negative results. Charlie Company we then moved into our Night Defense Position at 1955hrs and around 2050hrs both 51 and 55 snakes where in position.
Delta Company

At 0624hrs Delta Company is leaving Night Defense Position after all snakes have closed. Move to Day logger at BS735434. The Delta Company 91 element is moving out on a Recon in Force Mission with the Delta Company 21 element going on a short patrol to BS710435. Delta Company sending two men into the rear for medical reasons, Seeger infected ingrown toenail (right foot) and Greene on 2 June was involved in jeep accident near Chu Lai and now has trouble carrying a rucksack, sending him to have his back checked. (McCoy and Palomares) Delta personnel from Security Platoon at LZ Goldie checked for possible malaria around 104 temp. At 1915hrs Delta Company is moving to Night Defense Position and spotted 4 to 7 VC/NVA, we took under fire with M-16 and M-60, They evaded ran into tree-line Delta Company checked with negative results. Delta Company moved into their Night Defense Position with the 21 snake at BS710436.
Echo Company
August 11, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Defensive targets 1, Observed Mission 1 with total expend 11HE and 11 WP. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1040hrs Security Platoon Dusted Off two personnel with high Temp with possible malaria, last names McCoy Delta Company and Last name Palomares. At 0657hrs Recon is now leaving ambush location and on the way to LZ Liz closed on Liz at 0730hrs. PFC TOMMIE WATSON IS LISTED AS KIA DIED OF WOUNDS (see July 22, 1969).
