Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1000hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC RF Company reports there is no change in their location. At 1912hrs E Troop report at BS844328, ¼ ton vehicle bumper 6f11, overturned at Bridge 107. Driver observed wire stretched across road, he jammed on the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. Results were 2 US injured, both minor. 1 was released from A&D the other was held for observation. All 4 in vehicle came back to LZ Bronco on the Dust Off ship; Vehicle secured by 32 element of E Troop. At 2020hrs 1-20 Infantry on Bridge 104, 32 element of E Troop reported that 2 PF were slightly burned when on accidentally dropped a WP grenade, Dust Off completed at 2055hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 11, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and at 1450hrs Alpha Company at BS851308 detained 1 man he told National Police that he was VC sniper and would lead them to a tunnel containing weapons. While moving to hole, Nation Police shot and killed the VC, result one VC KIA. At 1600hrs Alpha Company at grid BS835311 approached a hootch and received 2 hand grenades from hooch, and received 2 hand grenades from hooch. Resulted in 1 National Police WHA, minor frag wounds US Troops moved back and fired on hooch resulting in 2 VC KIA. In the action 1 WHA by frag from an M-79 round called for Dust Off and completed at 1625hrs. In the hooch found 1 M-16 rifle #146653 and 1 30cal carbine #6594931. At 1650hrs Alpha Company is locations 10 and Command Post at BS834314, 20 at BS839312, 30 BS927350, 31 at BS865292. At 1710hrs Alpha Company is locations 10 at BS824358, 31 at BS865292, 20, Command Post BS836314, the 22 ambush at BS829309, the 30 at BS827355. At 1736hrs Alpha Company at BS841309 engaged 1 VC evading results 1 VC KIA. At 2043hrs Alpha Company 22 is now at BS839309.
Bravo Company
August 11, 1968
At 0720hrs Bravo Company at BS842282 engaged 1 VC evading, results 1 VCS WIA, CIA, approximately 20, wearing black, had claymore bag with camouflaged scarf and sewing kit. At 0845hrs Bravo Company is located at BS829269 at 0815hrs at BS839299 engage 1 VC evading results 1 VC KIA, was man with no ID. At 1200hrs Bravo Company is located BS842308 detained 1 VCS evading no ID and will evac to LZ Bronco. At 1710hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 10 will established their Night Defense Position at BS846298, the 20 ambush at BS819302 and the 21 at BS830301.
Charlie Company
August 11, 1968
At 1000hrs Charlie Company is located at BS822313. At 1650hrs Charlie Company is at LZ Thunder and has taken the Security Mission over for the LZ. The 31 element is at BS766355 moving to their night ambush. At 1928hrs Charlie Company at BS768356 engaged approximately 12 VC, and is moving into the area found 1 US steel pot, 1 30cal Carbine #215659, observed many tunnels also found misc. equipment. The VC moved out to the east and the Charlie 31 element will relocate their Night ambush position. Captain Alfred N. Webb took over command of Charlie Company around this time.
Delta Company
August 11, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1005hrs Delta Company at BS928169 Dust Off a female who had been wounded by a booby trap. Dust Off is completed at 1017hrs. At 1650hrs Delta Company locations ambushes the 11 at BS912243, the 22 at BS875270, the 23 at BS882269 and the 32 at BS932221.
Echo Company
August 11, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for (the 1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1000hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS743287. At 1120hrs Recon Platoon at BS748287 found small base camp, 3 huts containing small amount of foodstuff mostly nuts and leaves also several small holes and bomb shelters. At 1230hrs Recon Platoon at BS748287 received 4 rounds sniper fire, negative casualties and returned fire and searching out area.
