Headquarters and Headquarter Company
April 11, 1970

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1031hrs A Troop we request an urgent Dust Off from BS787438 for 4 US with frag wounds as a result of a booby trap. Their names are E-5 Conroy with wounds to the face, E-3 Larkin with wounds to the legs, E-3 Lambrite with wounds to the stomach and E-7 Abney with back wounds, Dust Off Completed at 1048hrs. At 1800hrs A Troop Recon is moving to 61 BSBS838408, 63 at BS822416, 64 BS833405. The 16 element is moving to BS813478 and moving to BS813478 and the 26 and 36 is moving to BS816470. At 1830hrs A Troop all elements are in their Night Defense Position. The 16 element at BS813478 and the 26-36 is at BS816470. At 1900hrs 1-20 Infantry we request a routine Dust Off for 1 US Command SGT MAJ Lewis, with a temperature of 104 and severe chest pains, completed at 1911hrs. Alpha Troop 1-1 Cav reports SGT Patrick J. Conroy and PFC Richard V. Larkin evac to 91 Evac Hospital. SFC James R. Arney, PFC James Kelso and PFC Mark D. Lambright was treated by B 23 Medical.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
April 11, 1970

Alpha Company continued to use some Day Logger with multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1630hrs Alpha Company requested extraction of one US with high fever and possible malaria, line #G2276, grid BS765390. At 2025hrs Alpha Company are in multiple Night Defense Position with multiple night snake locations.

 

Bravo Company
April 11, 1970

At 0430hrs Bravo Company starts the day with multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0625hrs Bravo Company the 61 element while moving to their objective are spotted one VC male and engaged with small arms resulting in one VC KIA at BS801428. He was dressed in one black and had no ID and 25. The VC had 3 M26 grenades attached to a pistol belt, a map of the Area of Operation with Bravo on it and some NVA money. At 0715hrs Bravo Company 64 element is moving out for Road Security, and at 0830hrs the 62 element is moving to provide Security for the Dozer at BS806397. At 0915hrs Bravo Company requests Urgent Dust Off for 2 (PF) and 2 (US) with frag wounds to the arms and legs. The (US) and (PF) wound received these wounds from a booby trap, a hand frag attached to a trip wire, at 789442. An additional US had minor frag wounds to the neck and did not require Dust Off (line #32). At 1250hrs Bravo Company located near Buda, a RF operating with Bravo Company was shot by a VC (approximately 18), in the right side, (flesh wound) by a .45 cal pistol. The VC evaded into a Ville at BS781430, the 06 element checked the area with negative finding. At 1608hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off at BS773457 for one Vietnamese female with frag wounds to the head and right arm. One Vietnamese child was KIA. The incident occurred when there was a unknown type explosion along the road, completed at 1620hrs. At 0704hrs the Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese female with a compound fracture of the leg. It was the results from an accident involving a Lambretta and a motorcycle completed at 0712hrs and Bravo Company moved to their Night Defense Positions with multiple ambushes out. Bravo Company reports SGT William L. Miles was treated and released in field with frag wounds to neck and back SP4 Kenneth L. Wise with multiple frag wounds to right shoulder and right leg, PFC Paul G Schusek frag wounds buttocks, hands and arms, 1LT Blairs S. Hanilton frag wounds to legs and neck and SSGT Kenneth Sumer D. Frag wounds to buttocks were treated at B 23 Medical.

 

Charlie Company
April 11, 1970

At 0045hrs Charlie Company all elements have closed on Mo Duc except for the 42 element which is still moving to MO Duc and closed at 0145hrs at BS758460. At 0725hrs Charlie Company 05 element captured one Vietnamese male with no ID, 30, white shire and shorts. At 1318hrs Charlie Company all elements have closed on the Day Logger. At 1530hrs 41 elements is moving to BS749468 and 62 has closed on BS745443. He was 600 meters south of last night snake site at BS738463, he spotted the 05 element and tried to evade but was captured. Charlie Company continued to use multiple Day Loggers and saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1644hrs Charlie Company moved in to their Night Defense Position at BS738438 remaining elements closed by 2030hrs with multiple snakes out. At 1830hrs Charlie Company the 91, 01, and 74 elements are moving to their Night Defense Position at BS738438 with multiple ambushes out again tonight.

 

Delta Company
April 11, 1970

Delta Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1840hrs Delta Company reports the 32 element have closed on their Day Logger.

 

Echo Company
April 11, 1970

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fire 5, Observed Mission 5 and Defense Target 4 for a total expended of 25 HE, 1 WP, and 89 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1049hrs Recon we blew a tunnel at BS827411 resulting in 1 male VC KIA, age 25 to 30 and dressed in a green uniform. 1 AK 47 CIA, 2 bags of clothing (uniforms), medical supplies, documents and 2 Chi Com grenades were also CIA. At 1103hrs Warlord Lead is on station. At 1305hrs A Troop the 16 and 36 elements are at BS832435 and the 26 element is moving to BS832435. At 1800hrs A Troop Recon is moving to 61 BS838408, 63 at BS822416, 64 BS833405. The 16 element is moving to BS813478 and moving to BS813478 and the 26 and 36 is moving to BS816470. At 1941hrs Recon Platoon all element are in their snake locations, 61 at BS834408, 63 at BS822416 and 64 at BS833405.
