Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0855hrs we report to being closing on LZ Liz. At 0820hrs Sharks spotted NVA with packs at grid BS779375. Request clearance to engage from 1-20 Infantry, cleared by Battalion S-3. Negative damage, we are breaking station for a Combat Assault. Bravo Company the 82 element is checking out their objective area vicinity BS799441, found an estimated 2 tons of rice in big bats located in hootches. Does S-3 want this rice salvaged for the refugees? The S-3 will send bags to salvage the rice. At 0940hrs Alpha Company and Charlie Company hook to and from Stand Down (Chu Lai) 1st PZ 0710hrs last LZ 1015hrs. At Sharks after the Combat Assault we made a Visual Recon of the area around BS779393 and we have 1 NVA /VC KIA, military age male with uniform but with no pack or weapon. At 1055hrs Bravo Company there will be a Med-Cap at BS783433 and we are sending the 54 element out to pull security for it. At 1105hrs Delta Company is now back under 1-20 Infantry control as Delta Company closed on LZ Bronco. At 1330hrs LTC Wilson attends Rome Plain Planning Session at LZ Bronco for Clearing starts 13 October 1969 with 1-20 Infantry provide security for the cleaning operation.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company all snakes closed on LZ Liz and at 0940hrs Alpha Company and Charlie Company hooks to and from Stand Down at Chu Lai with Charlie Company 1st 0710hrs and 4th LZ 0932hrs Alpha Company 1st PZ 0810hrs and Last LZ 1015hrs Start from their Stand Down at Chu Lai (Clearing Operations of the GAZA Strip is to begin on October 13, 1969).
Bravo Company

Bravo Company using Day logger, sending multiple patrols out, provide security for Med Cap (BS783433) and security for engineers and bridges. At 0822hrs Bravo Company reports Mine Sweep is at check point 2 and the 82 element is at their objective. At 0845hrs Bravo Company the 82 element in checking out their objective area (BS799441), found an estimated 2 tons of rice in big vats located in hootches does the S-3 want this rice salvaged for the refugees? The S-3 will send bags to salvage the rice. At 2010hrs the 75 element with ARVN made contact with 3 VC, who walked into their snake position, both sides opened fire; the VC had an AK-47 and an M-79. Results 1 ARVN KIA hit by frag from rounds, 1 VC KIA and captured an AK-47 and also some papers and a colt 45 pistol. The ARVN moved out and our 75 element then returned to their Bridge location.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company air move 1st PZ and Last LZ at 0930hrs and Charlie Company returns from Chu Lai and takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. The planning meeting was held today for the Pacification Program on the Gaza strip which is schedule to start October 13, 1969 and all civilian personnel moved to new Ville.
Delta Company

At 1000hrs Delta Company has moved to grid BS805335 and ended the day at LZ Bronco and returned to 1-20 Infantry Operation Control. Delta Company reports Jack W Hayden evac to 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company
October 10, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0655hrs Recon Platoon report Observe Missions 6 with total expended 14 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0430hrs Recon we are leaving the wire at LZ Liz and at 0527hrs report we are at checkpoint 1 at BS759414. At 0610hrs Recon reports that we are a checkpoint 2 at BS753412. At 0810hrs Recon we can’t cross the blue also we have gone to grid BS735424 with no luck. We will head north then east back to LIZ.
