Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade. As the 196th Light Infantry Brigade moves north to support the Marines.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation as they continued to move toward Hill 352. At 1345hrs Alpha Company at BT060274 located Fox holes, small amount of rice, chop sticks, foot powder and a bunker with 107 rounds 7.62 ammo will destroy all.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operations Bravo Company reports that SP4 John L. Sabo and PFC Ronald F. Horn was attached to NSA Hospital DA Nang.
Charlie Company
May 10, 1968
Charlie Company continued to use their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operations. At 1125hrs Charlie Company 1-20 Infantry in contact at this time. Located 2 dud rounds and received small arms fire when tried to destroy at BT053292 and calling artillery at this time. At 1315hrs Charlie Company received heavy weapons fire and moved to suspected location and found 1 M-1 magazine. At 1610hrs Charlie Company at BT053295 located 1 grave with dead Vietnamese in green uniform. Had hands tied at back and was shot twice through head, 5’ 5", blue eyes. At 2228hrs Charlie Company at BT057288 received heavy weapons and small arms fire form southwest 300 meters. The 4.2 FO was WHA, request Artillery now and Charlie 6 reports movement on all sides. Dust Off on Station waiting for guns. Dust Off received ground fire from West and Gun Ships support Dust Off which was completed at 2321hrs. Guns departed at 2325hrs and at 2325hrs Charlie Company reports negative contact. Charlie Company reports the following PFC Robert E. Crenshaw and SP4 Varnado Simpson where evac to NSA Hospital DA Nang.
Delta Company

Delta Company then moved down the Valley and set up in our first Night Defense Position and where Delta Company was inserted on May 5, 1968 into the area. We received re supply and personnel, as Delta Company and men and prepared for operations in the morning a plan foot movement to LZ Ross. Delta Company received 3-4 mortar rounds right after re-supply chopper with new personnel and some supplies lift off with negative casualties or damage, it was a real welcome wagon to the new men and to our LZ Center operation and to Delta Company.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon. Echo Company reports the following SP4 Henry L. Butler and SP4 Laverle A. Kurtz where attached to NSA Hospital Da Nang (Charlie Company 4.2 FO was WHA).
