Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs 4-4 ARVN vicinity BS610506, while conducting a raid element engaged 7 VC with weapons resulting in 5 VC KIA, 1 AK 47 CIA, 2 M-2 carbines, 6 Chi Com grenades with negative friendly casualties. At 0955hrs Helix 37 is on station. At 1325hrs S-4 Minuteman 907 is on station for re supply. At 1325hrs S-4 Minuteman 907 is on station for re supply. At 1545hrs Warlord 7 is on station for boxes 33C and 33 D and at 1615hrs Warlord 7 vicinity BS931542 reports seeing heavily fortified bunkers and fighting position recently used. Also there was may well used trails vicinity BS931542, engaging with artillery at this time. At 1715hrs 4-4 ARVN vicinity BS611536, while in day light ambush position ARVN ambushed 4 VC resulting in 4 VC KIA, 1 M-16, 2 carbines, 4 Chi Com grenades CIA with negative friendly casualties. At 2005hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity BS733652 requested Priority Dust Off for 1 PF litter with stomach pains and numbness throughout body and completed at 2100hrs. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0135hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS690514, had a mechanical Ambush detonate 300 meters from their position, requested illumination to swept area. They found 1 male VC KIA wearing green uniform 25-30 years old, carrying 7 AK rounds moving west to east, no weapon or pack, signs of possible another person in the area. While they were checking 1st mechanical Ambush a 2nd Mechanical Ambush at BS688514 they then swept the area around and sound signs that a 4-legged animal had been wounded. Alpha Company re checked the areas in the day light with negative finding. They set up patrol bases and started patrolling their Area of Operation. At 100hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to BS703500. At 1230hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 in vicinity BS695516. At 1335hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon at checkpoint 3 vicinity BS698489. At 1416hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed at BS704516, 1st Platoon Patrol closed vicinity BS696506. At 1500hrs 3rd Platoon patrol closed at BS700486. At 2015hrs Alpha Company Command Post, 3rd and 4th Platoon is located at BS705507, 1st and 2nd Platoon BS698509, 1st Platoon ambush BS696509, 2nd Platoon ambush BS696513, and 3rd Platoon ambush BS710500. SP4 Gregory B. Onion was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

At 0750hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon in vicinity BS725447, while conducting a sweep of the area of last night sighting, detained 1 female age 17 years old, wearing Maroon and black. She tried to evade from the element while they were sweeping the area. She will be brought to LZ Liz and questioned prior to being evacuated to MACV Duc Pho. Bravo Company on LZ Liz and taken over the security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

At 0715hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon has a stay behind ambush at BS703545. At 0750hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS665561. At 1140hrs Charlie Company at OP Wink sighted 2 VC with weapons vicinity BS701571, through the IOS were wearing green uniforms and moving northwest, did no engage due the proximity of friendly. At 1825hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed vicinity BS704557. At 1835hrs Charlie Company reports IOS sighting vicinity BS667548, have 4 to 6 VC, Artillery fire mission called and personnel were moving in a northerly direction engaged with 4.2mm mortar and 81mm mortar on target. At 1840hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol has closed on BS684573 with 3rd Platoon ambush moving out for BS702554. At 1900hrs Charlie Company reports Vietnamese locations at BS667578 and BS664564. At 1906hrs Charlie Company 3rd and 4 Platoon are at BS705507.
Delta Company

At 0845hrs Delta Company 1st and 3rd Platoon moving from LZ Liz to BS724443. The Delta Company 3rd Platoon is moving to BS717428 and 2nd platoon to BS748412. At 1205hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon is in location at BS748412. At 1343hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon vicinity of BS706421 sighted some enemy positions, dug in (appeared to be fighting positions) and now checking the area out. At 1819hrs Delta Company 3rd platoon found 2 booby traps, 1 was a can of Petna with pressure release device on trail vicinity BS713426. The 2nd one was a spear trap set up in elephant grass on a trail with trip wire BS721426 both booby traps where blown in place. At 1955hrs Delta Company 1st platoon vicinity BS714435, en route to ambush location made contact with unknown size enemy, received small arms fire and M-79 fire from 75 meters, resulting in 1 US WIA from gun shot wounds. Delta Company called for urgent Dust Off, which was complete at 2030hrs. At 2111hrs Delta Company reports their locations Command Post and 3rd Platoon BS722443, 2nd Platoon BS743417 and 3rd Platoon BS716425, BS710424.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0015hrs Recon at LZ Liz requested a Dust Off for 1 US with temperature of 104.8, had chills and temperature all day and off and on for 4 days. Dusted Off by Pelican 11 from Artillery 155 battery at 0030hrs.
