Headquarters and Headquarter Company
March 10, 1970
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0450hrs 1-20 Infantry reports PPS-5 at 2145hrs spotted 4 to 5 stationary personnel with negative clearance and Charlie Company is informed. At 0806hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon we will possibly be putting in air strikes at BS762351, BS782351, BS783335 and BS7843321. At 0807hrs The Helix 35 is putting in an Air Strike at BS705460, the grid was cleared and friendly locations given. At 1345hrs Helix 38 is putting in an Air Strike at BS783336 with 2 trails cut, one stream blown and one secondary explosion. At 1345hrs 1-20 Infantry the S-3 spotted 2 to 3 personnel they where wearing black pajamas. Delta Company informed and went to check it out. At 1553hrs Brigade Schedule no Combat Assaults on 12 March 1970, there will be no choppers on 13 and 14 March 1970 due the large Combat Assault so be sure to re supply on the 12th for 2 days.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 10, 1970
Alpha Company continued their use of saturation patrolling in their Area of Operations at 1000hrs Alpha Company reports the 63 element has picked up two Vietnamese females wearing white top and black bottoms and hat (age 31-35) and ID seems false, grid BS765389. At 1048hrs Alpha Company 93 has checked the Area of WBA and KBA with negative finding. Recon felt they had one KBA and 1 WBA in the area and Alpha Company we are moving to Night Defense Position at BS754375. At 1141hrs Alpha Company the 93 element has checked the area that Recon spotted the 4 personnel. They had negative findings and are now moving to their Checkpoints to complete their patrol. They said there was movement in the area prior to the Alpha 93 arriving. The Recon Platoon Leader saw the 1 KBA and one WHA hit and go down and then there was movement in the area and they were possible drug off. War Lord Gun Ships checked out the area with negative finding and broke Station. At 1604hrs Alpha Company we are moving out to our Night Defense Position at BS754375 and at 1658hrs entire company closed on the Night Defense Position. At 1705hrs Alpha Company sent out 3 patrols and they close at 1935hrs with the 32 snake at BS753367 and the Alpha 33 element snake location is at BS766369. At 2110hrs Alpha Company reports the 32 element is at BS753365, the 33 element is at BS766369 and the 34 element is at BS748386.
Bravo Company

At 1002hrs Bravo Company the 96 element has picked up 3 detainees at BS762457, the 34 element at BS802462 found 3 fresh campfires and footprints. At 1105hrs Bravo Company request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with gun shot to the foot Line #97, he received these wounds from sniper fire approximately 5-8 rounds came in from the northeast and Artillery is being called in. The Bravo 34 element went to check out grid BS791442, and Dust Off completed at 1130hrs. At 1620hrs Bravo Company 63 element has one male VC/NVA detainee, 30 years old after questioning by the PF he is going to lead the 63 element to 3 VC with weapons. The 3 VC fired on the 63 element and they returned fire back and they the VC broke contact and evaded north. They found a bunker and VC detainee said there were 6 VC 4 males and 2 females, and they had one AK 47, one M-1 and one SKS. PFC Robert E. Chester was evac to 91st Evac Hospital gunshot right leg with FX to left Tibia.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS733431 at 1920hrs. The 92 element found one family size bunker at BS738425, and was destroyed and the 92 element closed on BS733431. Charlie Company will use patrolling and multiple Day ambushes in their Area of Operation.
Delta Company
March 10, 1970
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0752hrs Delta Company reports the 63 and 33 snakes have closed on LZ Liz. At 2030hrs Delta Company we spotted 3 lights 350 meters east of bunker 18, we engaged with illumination and the snakes on the access road were notified. At 2125hrs Delta Company reports their SRRP is at BS759453, the 64 snake is roving from BS758434 and to 764437 and with 94 the element snake is roving from BS764437 and to BS770440 and the 34 element is roving from BS770440 to BS775444.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0625hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Echo Scheduled Fires 4, Observed Missions 3 with a total expended 5 HE and 27 Illumination. Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0710hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to the OP at BS789357 and the 32 element is in their OP at BS802364. At 0752hrs Recon Platoon the 52 element present location is at BS793360. At 0806hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon we will possibly be putting in air strikes at BS762351, BS782351, BS783335 and BS7843321. At 0820hrs Recon element is at BS790341. At 0850hrs Recon 52 SRRP spotted 2 male personnel with black pajamas on, across the lake at BS765374. At 0930hrs Recon Platoon reports the results of fire mission at the 2 personnel at BS785364, we have one KBA and one WBA confirmed. At 1115hrs Recon Platoon reports we spotted 4 personnel moving from the same area as the prior movement and we will call in Artillery on the personnel (See Alpha Company). At 1858hrs Recon Platoon the 32 snake is moving to BS802364 and closed at 1946hrs.
