Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0820hrs Warlord 31 in Calvary box 61 made a Visual Recon of the area with no signs of people in the area other then a few bunkers and structures being build vicinity BS634460. At 0850hrs Helix FAC 32 spotted 4 boxes in the vicinity of BS818472, 1 very large and 3 small ones. They were wooden boxes. The large 1 is by a hole and must have been dug up. There are many tracks around the area. A visual Team was called to check the area and brigade did not sent in a team. Helix will destroy with rockets. At BS815480 spotted another dud mortar round was found. At 0955hrs TMF a Fire Mission was called on String 76 with unknown number of stationary personnel, we requested Artillery at 0951hrs and shot at 1003hrs with 8 HE round of 105 Artillery at grid BS782355. At 1700hrs S-5 Report PSYOPS in 1-20 Infantry TAOR Chieu Hoi and VIP leaflets and tapes. Also Bravo Company conducting a Med Cap at BS706622 and BS733653 with 347 people treated during the period of 2 to 8 July 1970. At 2046hrs North OP we spotted 4 to 5 stationary personnel at BS733432 with negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly Ville. ).SP4 JAMES LYNN JONES LISTED AS KIA (see 7/7/70) SP James L. James COD at 27 Surgical Evac Hospital where he died at 1530hrs 10 July 1970 from Acute (SP. Acute - Hemoagic panoreatitis). LEGEND: 1st Platoon 14-19, 2nd Platoon 54-59, 3rd Platoon 34-39, Co- 21.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and at 1815hrs Charlie Company all access road elements area moving to the Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company
July 10, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0636hrs Bravo Company the 58 and 14 elements have linked up and checking the area of BS735629. At 0805hrs Bravo Company the 58 element is in yesterdays Day Logger at BS719639, the 37 element is in their preplanned Day Logger at BS720608, the 57 and 56 element is in their Day Logger at BS747666 and the 17 element is at BS682609. At 1230hrs Bravo Company the 18 element is at the bridge where the 17 element used to be and the 17element Day Logger is at BS693608. At 2244hrs Bravo Company the 57 element sprung their ambush a 1 VC at BS743643 we fired illumination and checking area with negative finding. The VC was 100 meters away and heading west and the PF engaged and we had negative finding, in sweep conducted in morning.
Charlie Company

At 0810hrs Charlie Company all elements have closed. At 1605hrs Charlie Company we requested a routine Dust Off for 1 US with a temp of 103.6 SP4 Reeves completed at 1610hrs grid BS783455. At 2114hrs Charlie Company has closed in their Night Defense Position and has multiply ambushes in place.
Delta Company

At 0610hrs Delta Company the 14 element is moving to cordon and search at BS758458, the 34 element is moving to cordon and search at BS733448 and the 54 element is moving to cordon and search at BS738456. At 0740hrs Delta Company completed their Cordon and Search Operations with negative finding and all elements are moving to the pick up point at junction of 515 and RR berm. At 0845hrs Delta Company we have arrived in location vicinity trucks and now moving to BS724570. At 0905hrs Delta Company the 14 element Kit Carson Scout spotted 4 VC in the vicinity of BS742567 who were evading to the north. They were engaged at 300 meters. The 14 element received sniper fire twice from 4 snipers at 0920hrs and swept the entire area and found 1 VC female KIA at BS736575 with no ID and dressed in all black, The 14 element has moved into their Day Logger. At 1800hrs Delta Company the 14, 15 and 54 elements are moving out on their Patrols. At 1820hrs Delta Company the 14 element engaged 5 NVA/VC with packs at BS751575. They were eating in a dense area and wearing black and blue clothing. Three packs were found, 3 US grenades, 1 Chi Com grenade, blue uniforms, rice and mosquitoes’ nets were found also. We have 2 KIA with the others evading to the south they were engaged at 100 meters with negative further was found. In 1 rucksack some documents were found which the Kit Carson Scout thinks belongs to a honcho. It is a list of names in a VC element. At 2000hrs Delta Company closed on their Night Defense Position with multiply ambushes out.
Echo Company
July 10, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0510hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 2 for a total expended of 12 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
