Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0050hrs Shadow is on station and working over the girds in box of BS7048, BS7145, BS7248 and BS7245. At 0230hrs Shadow we have expended all ammo and are breaking station. At 0430hrs IOS Target we have 1 light at grid BS7386 and BS4279. At 0735hrs 1-20 Infantry to Brigade Recon is at BS761395, which is in the boundary of the 4th Regiment Area of Operation. This Area of Operation extension goes into effect DATE/TIME 100800 January 1970 and Recon will not be able to clear the area until 101000 January 1970 please advise the units concerned. At 0956hrs The Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz and was briefed by the Battalion Commander and left at 1025hrs. At 1135hrs The Assistant Division Commander arrived at LZ Liz and was briefed by the S-3, he left for the South OP at 1300hrs and departs at 1257hrs. At 1705hrs Brigade we request that you provide a 25 man unit plus 1 officer for security of the Engineer on the road project in the area of BS7653 effective DATE/TIME 120001 January 1970. At 2201hrs LZ Liz IOS Target lights at grid BS787465 were fired on from LZ Bronco by the 155 artillery 1 HE round.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0902hrs 1-20 Infantry Reference the Telephone Conversation by Major Robert Neilson (S-3) with CPT Worthy (S-4). The Companies have used 384 trip flares this month. The S-4 can only draw 141 additional on his ASA for January and they should be informed of this.
Alpha Company

At 0702hrs Alpha Company the 46, 27, and 07 snakes have closed on BS757434. Alpha Company at 0927hrs we are now at LZ Liz. Bunker inspected by LT Szurek. as Alpha Company taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1810hrs Alpha Company the 07 snake is moving to BS762412, the 26 snake is moving to BS765434, the 46 snake is moving to BS768438 and the 04 snake is moving to BS773443 and all closed by 1935hrs.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to work with the PF out of their Semi permanent positions using Recon in Force and both Day and Night ambush in their Area of Operation. At 0610hrs Bravo Company 25 element has closed on BS787424. At 0732hrs Bravo Company the 26 snake is at BS789417, 46 at BS783433, 28 at BS794380 and the 07 is at BS778452. At 0750hrs Bravo Company the Gorilla element found a dud 155 rounds at grid BS790440, we blew it in place. At 0940hrs Bravo Company the Gorilla element is at checkpoint 3 at grid BS816418, the 07 is at checkpoint 2 at BS779454 where they found a grave and will dig it up. At 1143hrs Bravo Company the 07 element and the Gorilla element have closed on BS783433. At 1211hrs Bravo Company the 08 element and the Gorilla element have closed on BS783433 and the 08 element found a rucksack frame (GI type) and are keeping it. At 1257hrs The Rangers have closed on BS783433. At 1540hrs Bravo Company the Vietnamese will have a snake at BS792380, the 78 element will be going to BS801379.At 1915hrs Bravo Company 09 is at BS765450, 06 is at BS777438, 08 is moving to BS783457 and 48 is moving to BS779434.
Charlie Company

At 0952hrs Charlie Company we are moving out to the south. At 1055hrs Charlie Company we are at grid BS793343, we will be here for 2 to 3 hours and will conduct a Cloverleaf in the area. At 1235hrs Charlie Company the 24 element is moving to BS797342 and will be sending out day snakes from there and the 04 element will use Recon in Force patrol to an area in the vicinity of BS795345. At 1411hrs Charlie Company the 04 and 24 elements have closed on BS797342. At 1621hrs Charlie Company we have closed on our Night Defense Position at BS791342.
Delta Company
January 10, 1970
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0829hrs Delta Company the 07 snake has closed on LZ Liz and at 0955hrs we are leaving LZ Liz and after we were briefed. Delta Company present location at 1350hrs is at BS734432. At 1534hrs Delta Company we found a dud 105 rounds at our location of BS734432, we will blow it in place. At 1630hrs Delta Company we are moving out of our Day Logger. At 1901hrs Delta Company our Night Defense Position and present location is at BS704421. The snake location and present location of the 24 element is at BS726430. The snake and present location of the 44 element is at BS709425. At 1923hrs 1-20 Infantry to Delta Company Mo Duc reports a VC Battalion at BS736450.
Echo Company
January 10, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0610hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 23, Observed Missions 6, Defense Targets 3 and total expended 79 HE, 14 WP and 45 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0927hrs Recon we have finished blowing the bunker at grid BS761395 and are preparing to come to LZ Liz. At 1205hrs Recon Platoon is at the bottom of LZ Liz. At 1300hrs Recon we have departed to make a survey around LZ Liz. At 1410hrs Recon we have closed on LZ Liz with negative findings and take their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
