Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1105hrs 1-20 Infantry LRRP at BS625545 spotted 5 VCS, 3dressed in black PJ, in khaki, 1 in khaki shirt, black bottoms, 3 with weapons Command and Control Helicopter. Request Air Strikes for Duc Pho Area of Operations DATE/TIME/GRID 110730-11113 30 January 1969. 1-20 Infantry Spearing logs 11 LZ Liz frequency 27325 at 0730-0930hrs VR following area BS6850, BS7150, BS7145, BS6941. At 1612hrs 1-20 Infantry LRRP 1 VC is leaving hut they called artillery on. At 1901hrs 1-20 Infantry reports LRRP at BS625545 has spotted 7 VC 2 with packs and 2 with weapons and call in artillery and at 1903hrs Artillery Mission is completed and destroy the hut and hut was still burning. At 1920hrs 1-20 Infantry 1-20 Infantry S-5 7 8" artillery cases, 66 hand grenade, 7 4.2 rounds, 2 B-40 rounds, 13 81mm, 2 60mm, 2 M-79, 1 175mm HE, 2 105m, 1 pound TNT, 2 M-16 magazine, 2 Smoke Grenades, and 1 Chi Com mine.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0800hrs Alpha Company location is at LZ Dragon. At 1700hrs Alpha Company at BS760510 detained 4 VC suspects for questioning. At 2100hrs Alpha Company location is the 45 at BS703525, 33 at BS712506 and 84 at BS713535.
Bravo Company
January 10, 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0850hrs Bravo Company at BS733446 detained 7 VC suspects for questioning. And at 1100hrs Bravo Company found 3 VC KIA by Artillery about 3 days old, at BS734449.
Charlie Company
January 10, 1969
At 0950hrs Charlie Company at BS714395 observed 16 VC with packs and weapons moving west, fired Artillery with negative assessment.
Delta Company
January 10, 1969
At 0830hrs Delta Company BS712537 observed 200 Vietnamese that where moving east. At 0855hrs Delta Company BS703577 1 VCS detainee evac to Dragon and they received sniper fire on the way to LZ Dragon. At 1210hrs Delta Company located at BS703560 received sniper fire, negative casualties and returned fire, result 1 VC KIA. At 1215hrs Delta Company at BS704555 hit a 105mm Booby Trap, result is 1 US WHA requests Gun Ships and Dust OFF was completed at 1240hrs. At 1430hrs Delta Company found Booby Trap which VC set to get Delta Company as they walk back to RR track. Anti personnel mine was destroy in place. At 1450hrs Delta Company found unknown type of booby trap and destroyed in place.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon moved into a blocking position at BS721453. At 0830hrs Recon at BS733447 CIA VC in Village with pack marks on body with 2 VC KIA. At 1430hrs Recon reports their SRRP positions at BS721452. At 1530hrs observed 2 VCS, I VCS carrying pack can’t tell if carry weapons, observed 5 more VCS in area and calling in artillery. At 1753hrs, reported their locations Recon at BS724455, 81 at BS729449 and 41 at BS718453. At 1901hrs Recon spotted 7 VC, 2 with packs and 2 with weapons called in artillery at BS625545 and hut in area is still burning. PFC Duane C. Tranum was evac to 312th Evac Hospital (11B10).
