Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0405hrs Radar sighted 2 to 3 stationary personnel and engaged with 24 HE of Artillery 105mm at grid BS769419 and at 0045hrs 5 to 7 stationary were spotted at grid BS743418 and engaged with 18 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0750hrs all companies are to review and reemphasize the Rules of Engagement. Submit a report when this is accomplished. At 1040hrs Helix FAC we are putting in an Air Strike at grid BS799470. Bomb Damage Assessment 1 bunker destroyed, 70 meters of trench line destroyed and 1 secondary explosion. At 1040hrs 1-20 Infantry the Division Commanding Officer, arrived at LZ Liz and left at 1120hrs. At 1140hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Commanding Officer is leaving LZ Liz and is going on Bravo Company Combat Assault and he returned at 1230hrs. At 1505hrs 26th Engineer ran over a mine on the LZ Liz access road at grid BS768438 there was no casualties. The explosion was about in the center of the road. The mine had a pressure release type-firing device. The hole left by the blast was 4’ wide and 30" deep. At 1912hrs Shark 5 is on station and is making a Visual Recon starting at 1800hrs and broke station at 1910hrs. We spotted 1 VC/NVA at grid BS805398, engaged and resulting in 1 VC/NVA KIA. At 2010hrs 1-20 Infantry we requests a Visual Recon for Pho Hung Village Chief of Tac An Bac (1) at BS800422 (center of mass). At 1730hrs we had intelligence of a VC Platoon at BS812424 and moving along Son Tra Cau north and west and disguised as Fisherman.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2110hrs Brigade Lot MA1119 was reported by the 4-3 Infantry as having a short fuse and all bad lots will be turned in.
Alpha Company

At 0810hrs the 1-20 Infantry to Recon, Alpha and Charlie Company, have your ambushes tonight in accordance with the following grids Alpha Company to BS726446, BS726433, BS736426 and BS745385. Charlie Company ambushes at BS756383, BS765375, BS770373, and BS774374, BS781385, BS783395, BS782405 and BS782410. At 1120hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes have closed on LZ Liz on BS732430. At 1830hrs Alpha Company the entire element is moving to their Night Defense Position at BS740418 and by 2010hrs all snakes are in location. Alpha Company reports snake locations 04 at BS753391, 05 at BS753383, 06 at BS745393, also the 14 at BS729424, 15 to BS730431, 16 at BS733414, 44 at BS738407, 45 at BS740402 and the 46 at BS734409.
Bravo Company

At 0610hrs Bravo Company the 19 element has closed on BS771461. At 1105hrs Bravo Company the 08 element has closed on BS783433. At 1148hrs Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault of 44, 58, 05 and 14 from grids BS783433, BS778445 and BS789417, to BS792992, BS797477, BS799486, BS799486, and BS792482 has 1st PZ 1148hrs and Last LZ at 1206hrs. At 1415hrs Bravo Company apprehended 1 female Vietnamese detainee about 40 to 50 years of age. She was wearing black pants with a blue shirt and had no ID. The suspect was brought to MACV Duc Pho for interrogation at grid BS781477. At 1520hrs all elements involved in the Combat Assault had closed on BS783433. Bravo Company had one detainee turned into MAVC Duc Pho for interrogation. At 1615hrs Bravo Company an additional operation for tonight is the 19 clearing patrol then a snake at grid BS776442. At 1850hrs Bravo Company the 19 element is moving out on their clearing patrol to BS776448 and on their snake at BS776442. At 1905hrs Bravo Company the 19 snake is in location at BS77644 At 1913hrs Bravo Company Ranger element is moving out to grid BS799428. At 2010hrs 1-20 Infantry we request a Visual Recon for Pho Hung Village Chief of Tac An Bac (1) at BS800422 (center of Mass). At 1730hrs we had intelligence of a VC platoon at BS812424 and moving along Song Tra Cau north and west and disguised as fisherman. We requests 2 squads from the Bravo Company to Combat Assault to BS817412 and BS825415 (2 squads on each side of the river). Intelligence indicates the VC will no evade to the east or west. We request destruction by the Engineers of Van Truong. The read back on the detainees reveals they are 4 VC, 1 of which gave the names of 7 others (some have been rounded up). Also it was reported that a 30 man, sapper force was targeted on Bravo Company for last night or the night before. At 2058hrs Bravo Company the 07 snake is at BS783437, the 16 snake is at BS778455 and the 46 snake is at BS792418.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has multiple patrolling and some daylight ambushes and OP’s in their Area of Operation. At 0720hrs 1-20 Infantry to Charlie Company have a squad move to BS766389 by 0900hrs provide security for a sensor team. At 0810hrs 1-20 Infantry ambush tonight according to the following Charlie company ambush at BS756383, BS765375, BS770373, and BS774374, BS782385, BS782405 and BS782410. At 1138hrs Charlie Company the 44 element is at grid BS768376 and the 47 element is at grid BS789373. At 1600hrs Charlie Company reports the 47 element has closed on the 44 location at BS768376. At 1945hrs Charlie Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS774373. Charlie Company snakes are in the following location 04-BS765375, 08-BS771373, 07-BS762383, 14-BS782396, 46-BS777376, and 48-BS777387. At 2114hrs Charlie Company the 48 snake, element relocated 250 meters southwest of the preplanned snake location at grid BS780389. The new location is at grid BS777387. At 2124hrs Charlie Company reports all snake are in location.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1045hrs all snakes have closed on LZ Liz. At 1615hrs Delta Company between bunker 7 and 8, inside the perimeter, a Chi Com Hand grenade was found. It was old, rusty and had a blasting cap and it was thrown some time ago. At 1835hrs Delta Company all snakes are in location, the 15 is at BS749447, 05 at BS766437, the 16 snake at BS772440 and the 45 snake at BS762436.
Echo Company
February 10, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0625hrs 4.2 Platoon reports we had expended a total of 8 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0555hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to LZ Liz and at 0710hrs reported that they have closed on LZ Liz.
