Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry is OPCON to 1-20 Infantry. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 33 at BS7651 spotted approximately 50 in groups of 6 to 8 people groups and at 1840hrs Helix 33 at BS765513 have 5 KBA, confirmed and 1 automatic weapon destroy. Also at 0855hrs Helix 33 at BS734395 spotted 4 people in green uniforms in open, will adjust artillery. At 0826hrs Helix 33 at BS771556 rockets on VC spotted negative results and Helix moved to BS771556 for Air Strike, Bomb Damage Assessment 1 hut destroy, 4 huts damage and 1 bunker destroy along with 2 KBA. At 0930hrs 1-20 Infantry reports at BS745416 spotted considerable activity, a group of 2-3 people cutting small trees, digging and construction, will Visual Recon with the Command and Control Helicopter. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry reports the 21 element is located at BS779385. At 1425hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry received sniper fire from BS782386 and BS777384 estimate 2 people with automatic weapons engaged with Air Strike. At 1445hrs Command and Control Helicopter at BS782376 received heavy sniper fire from that grid, and at 1545hrs observed 4-5 mortar position at BS703398 azimuth 270 from LZ Liz, many holes and tunnels in area, not built recently good shape. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz observed marker 800-1000 meters from LZ Liz. At 1600hrs Command and Control Helicopter at BS832394 received sniper fore from 4-6 VC in green uniform area where Command and Control is down received sniper fire just checking ship sharks in area received 4 rounds in tail section returned to Duc Pho. The 5-6 persons had green uniforms and all had weapons. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at BS832394 we had 1 KIA evading, man approximately 30 years old, this happened right before Command and Control Helicopter. At 1830hrs Alpha Company 19 Engineers at BS789418 VC ambushed ARVN platoon moving along Highway 1, APC moved to ambush site received heavy volume of small arms fire. At 2115hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry report night ambushes 21 at BS776375, 24 at BS708608 and BS693591.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. At 1010hrs Delta Company reports D SRRP is at LZ Charlie Brown. At 1445hrs at BS688531 found a Base Camp, fence 6 to 8’ high around it, trail that was booby trap, contained camouflaged bunkers, destroyed. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations CAT at BS775395, A at BS704515, C at BS866294 and D at BS915254. At 1900hrs Alpha Company has 23 at BS741487, 44 at BS722511, 55 at BS725533, and 54 at BS723518. At 1910hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations 3-1 Infantry at BS775395, A BS704515, and Dog Tag at BS912256.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with 41 at 124 Bridge. At 1145hrs Bravo Company the 51 element is on patrol at BS754421. At 1440hrs Bravo Company reports their locations 44 is at BS758437, 51 at BS754421 with 46 at BS762415. At 1735hrs Bravo Company at BS725452 spotted 3 VC with packs and weapons engaged with 81mm Mortars, negative results. At 1835hrs Bravo Company at LZ Liz 1 man setting out claymore, pulled on wire firing device fell off bunker setting it off, Lovell, James R, RA KIA. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry reports their SRRP locations 3-1 Infantry at BS775395, A at BS704515, C at BS866294 and D at BS915254. At 1910hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations 3-1 at BS775395, A BS704515, and D at BS912256. CPL JAMES RICHARD LOVELL LISTED AS KIA.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1440hrs Charlie Company the 51 element is moving with 1-1 Calvary tracks on Road Security. At 1722hrs Charlie Company at BS917153 detained 3 VC suspects for questioning evac to LZ Liz. At 1805hrs Charlie Company request priority Dust Off for possible malaria case completed at 1845hrs. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations BS775395, A at BS704515, C at BS866294 and D at BS915254. At 1910hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations 3-1 at BS775395, A BS704515, and D at BS912256.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and provided security for Bridges at 95 and 84. AT 1445hrs Delta Company at BS921217 evac 3 detainees for questions to LZ Liz. At 1645hrs Delta Company at BS917153 detained 3 VC suspects for questioning. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations BS775395, A at BS704515, C at BS866294 and Dolphin at BS915254 is closing LZ Charlie Brown. At 0910hrs 1-20 Infantry SRRP locations 3-1 at BS775395, A BS704515, and Dog tags at BS912256.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their SRRP operations and at 1100hrs reports their location at BS641565, moving to LZ Liz.
