Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0123hrs Bronco Defense reports Bunkers 01 & 02 on the Carentan road were hit by enemy forces (believed to be satchel charges, grenades, and mortars), Defense Condition Red indicated. Counter mortar fired. At 0309hrs Base Defense reports back to Green. At 0745hrs Results of Charlie Company 26th Engineer 1 VC KIA, 1 US KHA and 7 WHA, from satchel charges grenades also possible mortar rounds. At 1200hrs Inform Bravo Company 6th Support that a 2.5 Ton truck is at Bridge 95 with brakes locked. At 1630hrs E Troop spotted 1 individual at BS818371 and move approximately 1000 meters south sending APC to check it our and results at 1710hrs was 1 VC KIA. At 1700hrs South of Duc Pho ARVN troops are turning traffic around, telling our troops that there are many VC in the area. At 1745hrs MACV JP4 Tanker 5 miles south of Duc Pho has 2 flats, notified 6th Support and E Troop to stand by. At 1745hrs MACV Major Smith reports possible build up of VC south of Duc Pho and west of RR track grid BS800360. At 2230hrs 1-20 Infantry reports LZ Thunder is receiving small arms fires from BS933224, returned fire with negative results, condition Green restored.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0123hrs Bronco Defense reports Bunkers 01 & 02 on the Carentan road were hit by enemy forces (believed to be satchel charges, grenades, and mortars), Defense Condition Red indicated. Counter mortar fired. At 1840hrs E Troop APC on Bridge to Carentan received small arms sniper fire from vicinity of Carentan. At 1915hrs Brigade has moved Searchlight to position on top of Mountain Bronco to cover road to Carentan. MAJ James R. Bell was attached to the 67th Medical Evac At 1940hrs APC on Carentan Road received 3 burst of carbine fire from BS838371 returned with 50 caliber fire. OP on Tripoli called reporting moving lights at BS849374 Carentan requested artillery fire into the area. At 2045hrs Bunker 46 received small arms fire. At 2108hrs Bunkers 26 & 37 had explosion to front and received small arms fire. At 2305hrs Bunker 24 reports 1 man 50 meters from wire crawling towards position, 6 to 8 others to the rear of his position about 100 meters out contacted MACV Major Smith says to "Shoot to Kill".
Alpha Company

At 0500hrs Alpha Company ambushes location at BS751338, made contact results is 1 VC KIA by claymore with 2 US with minor frag wounds. At 0915hrs Alpha Company is located at BS756346 and at 1145hrs Alpha Company requested a Dust Off for 1 US WHA results of gun shot wound in back Duct Off completed at 1204hrs. Then the Alpha Company 2nd Platoon spotted a group of 4 VC with weapons and engaged with small arms fire and the results was 2 VC KIA and 2 weapons CIA, weapons SKS 1960 and SN L21402 grid BS756331. At 1915hrs Alpha Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS757346 with ambushes at BS757341, BS754346, and BS763346, Alpha Company reports PFC RONALD DELL BUNTING IS LISED AS KHA.
Bravo Company

At 0915hrs Bravo Company is located at BS795405. At 1045hrs Bravo Company on bridges at grid BS795405. At 1445hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon at BS795405, 2nd Platoon at Bridges at 104-105, 3rd Platoon at Bridges at 99-100, and at 1900hrs Bravo Company at LZ Thunder with ambush at 892260. At 1515hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is located at bridges BS795405, 2nd Platoon at bridges 104 and 105 BS823340 and 3rd Platoon is at 99 and 100. At 2045hrs 1-20 infantry notified Bravo of Radar detected movement at BS908283.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company (-) has the Security Mission for LZ Uptight. At 1104hrs Charlie Company on their Search and Destroy operation at BS728839 have 3 WHA for Dust Off as the results of a mine booby trap. At 1900hrs Charlie reports their position on LZ Uptight. SP4 Daniel Zeigler, PFC Robert M. Mauro and SP4 Ronald Bost attached to 2nd Surgical Hospital Chu Lai.
Delta Company

At 0915hrs Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1515hrs Delta Company is located at BS823340 as they move west from LZ Thunder. At 1745hrs MACV Major Smith, MACV Duc Pho, reports possible build up of VC south of Duc Pho and West of RR track vicinity BS800360, will keep posted. Delta Company at 1840hrs spotted 30 VC with weapons vicinity BS795315 requested sharks. Delta Company firing Artillery, Delta Company on Gun Target Line using VT Fuse for air burst effect, had close call, with the ridge between good guys and bad guys with some shells going off near the good guys. At 1915hrs Delta Company Night Defense Position is at BS804324 with ambushes out at BS806326, BS803311, BS807313 and BS803306.
Echo Company

Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 0915hrs Recon reports their location at BS871278. Recon Platoon has continued to use Day and Night ambushes, along with OP to try and cut of the routes the VC are using. At 1515hrs Recon reports their location at BS864276. At 1915hrs Recon is located at BS864277 with ambush at BS865282.
