Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0803hrs Helix 35 is putting a Air Strike in at BS802459. At 2050hrs Bravo Company has contact with all bunkers except bunker 14.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Charlie Company
August 10, 1969
At 0915hrs Company 21 as moving out at on their Recon in Force and at 0940hrs at BS812449, they received a few rounds of small arms approximately 4 snipers and we respond with 81mm fire and small arms fire returned. At 1513hrs they closed on Day Logger by the 91 element just back from patrol. At 1900hrs Charlie Company we received fire from what seemed to be 4 automatic weapons. 1 US received gunshots wounds in stomach Request Urgent Dust Off, man’s Name is Earp (Billy). The fire came from approximately 100 meters from the eastern side of perimeter and Gun Ships have been called. At 2005hrs Charlie Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS813449 both our snakes moved into position by 2045hrs. CPL BILLY WAYNE EARP IS LISTED AS KHA.
Delta Company

At 0605hrs Delta Company snakes have closed and we are now leaving our position, 53 elements is moving to check out the Night Defense Position site for tonight and day larger for tomorrow. At 1925hrs Delta Company is moving into our Night Defense Position BS721438 both the 53 snake and the 22 snake reports they are in location.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0640hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Defensive Targets 3 with total expend 6 WP. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0730hrs Recon Platoon reports we have reached checkpoint #4 vicinity BS719421. At 0810hrs Recon we have reach our Day Logger at BS716425. At 1445hrs Recon Platoon reports that at 1500hrs we will be moving out on a Recon in Force operation to pick a good location for our Day logger and Night Defense Position. First Location we will be moving to BS715435, then make a sweep to BS712427 using a Recon in Force Operations. At 1520hrs Recon Platoon is located at BS713428 about 500 meters northwest of our old Night Defense Position. We came across 1 NVA helmet, 1 NVA pistol belt, 2 Chi Com grenades, first aid packet and one sleeping hammock. It looked like the individual had to leave the area on a hurry. At 1555hrs Recon Platoon we have reached our first objective BS715435 and are moving toward the second objectives. At 1510hrs Recon Platoon we are in prescribed area at BS712427. We will send coordinates for Night Defense Position for Night Defense Position as soon as we shackle them. At 1725hrs Recon Night Defense Position for tonight is reported to be BS713426 and at 2010hrs. At 1925hrs Recon reports is moving our snake location at this time and by 2010hrs Recon Platoon we are now in our snake location.
