Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0355hrs Saber 40 is on station to search Box 31, broke station at 0410hrs due to divert mission. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Access Road is open. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry, IOS at 1105hrs on South OP sighted 3 VC/NVA at the vicinity 733411, were engaged with 105 artillery Fire Mission form LZ Liz. IOS temporarily lost sight of individuals. Fire Mission smoke, when sighting was regained there were 5 VC/NVA, were engaged with 105 artillery, evaded to southwest into a tree line which was fired on by artillery. At 1230hrs Primo 4 overheard 1-20 Infantry Battalion and IOS talking about VC/NVA, Primo 4 contacted 2 cobras that were in the area and engaged the about grid. Primo 4 and Cobras broke station at 1250hrs with negative results. At 1325hrs IOS reports there was a total of 9 VC/NVA, 2 with weapons and 2 with packs. At 1400hrs AMC Bird is on station for Combat Assault of Bravo and Delta Companies. At 1505hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault of Bravo and Delta Companies. 1. Delta 39-31 LZ 1411hrs, 2. Bravo 74/52 LZ 1415hrs, 3. Delta 31-(NKL) LZ 1429hrs, 4. Delta 74-52 LZ 1433hrs, 5. Bravo 57 LZ 1434hrs, 6. Bravo 31 LZ 1433, 7. Delta 57 LZ 1440hrs, 8. Bravo 39 LZ 1441hrs Combat Assault is completed. At 1555hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon and 2nd Platoon is moving out to BS628521. At 1701hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 1 in vicinity BS631521. At 1705hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoons at grid BS628521 found blood trails leading into a stream. At 1818hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoon at BS623525 found 15 sleeping position, campfire sites, and empty food cans, recently used 24 to 48 hours. At 1825hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoon vicinity checkpoint 3 at BS622527, found 1 booby trap M-79 with pressure release device along a trail, blown in place. Also at BS630520 found a well used camouflaged trail with many footprints (trail ran from BS622528 to BS630530). At 2030hrs Saber 40 is on station for Box 31, at vicinity BS796471 had radar sighting of 5 to 7 personnel and Saber 40 checked it out. Received fire from bunker at this grid, Artillery Fire Mission called in as Saber 40 broke station at 2108hrs. At 2120hrs Saber 40 is on station for Box 31. At 2140hrs TMF Fire Mission at 2105hrs Sting 293 Target A, stationary personnel, negative metal confirmation, unknown number of people, at 2107hrs engaged with 46 81mm HE rounds Mortar and at 2120hrs engaged with HE VT Artillery 155mm. At 2325hrs 1-20 Infantry IOS on South OP spotted 15 to 20 personnel moving northwest, engaged area with artillery. Legend: 1st Platoon 39, 2nd Platoon 74, 3rd Platoon 31, 4th Platoon 57, CO-52.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 10, 1971
At 1901hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon moving out to BS626522 Command Post moving out to BS634518, 2nd Platoon moving to BS622515. At 1915hrs Alpha Company while conducting a Fire Mission vicinity BS622498 observed 1 secondary explosion. At 1930hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon at is at BS628524 with 2nd Platoon has closed on BS632514. Alpha Company by 1940hrs all patrols have closed on their units and moved into their Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company

At 0815hrs Bravo Company 2nd and 4th Platoon along with the Command Post is now moving to PZ at BS635547. At 1145hrs Bravo Company while moving to PZ found tunnel vicinity BS637547, was 4’X 4’ X 6’ was destroyed. The Combat Assault by Company Bravo and Company Delta from PZ 1403hrs to 1441hrs 8th and last LZ. Bravo Company now has the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

At 0510hrs Charlie Company element is moving out to BS724431 for a Cordon and Search operation vicinity BS724431. At 1535hrs Charlie Company is moving out for Night Defense Position at BS733416, 1st Platoon patrol closed on vicinity BS724431. At 1915hrs 3rd Platoon Night Defense Position will be BS730421 and Charlie Company 1st and 4th Platoon with Command Post will be BS730421. At 2003hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon ambush is at BS729415, 2nd Platoon Ambush in location at BS712432, 2nd Platoon patrol ambush is still moving to ambush location at BS716436. At 2110hrs Charlie Company request Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with kidney infection, at BS733420, line #847 Bird 54 completed at 2135hrs.
Delta Company
April 10, 1971
At 1040hrs Delta Company is moving out to LZ Dragon. At 1403hrs a Combat Assault by Bravo and Delta Company completed at 1441hrs. At 1538hrs Delta Company 2nd platoon moving to BS645537, 1st platoon moving out to BS634538, 3rd platoon moving out to BS635544, and Delta Company Command Post and 2nd and 4th platoon moving out to BS649543. At 2000hrs Delta Company Delta Company 1st, 3rd Platoon is at BS627542, negative ambushes, Command Post, 4th and 2nd Platoons in preplanned location at BS649543. SP 4 Roger L. Pierce was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company
April 10, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for OP Wink.
