Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at Nghia Hanh (BS616638) for OPERATION NORFOLK VICTORY. At 1203hrs Delta Company 4-3 Infantry at BS515710 found additional 48 weapons which included 1 60mm mortar being of their weapons cache. At 1210hrs 1-20 Infantry informed Delta Company 4-3 Infantry that Delta Company 1-20 Infantry will be going in 1500 meters south, southeast of them. At 1300hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry is located at BS570640. At 1600hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry with 75 packs was completed at 1545hrs on April 11, 1968 at PZ BS570640
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. The Battalion Rear forward is at Nghia Hanh. At 1800hrs 11 Brigade reports at BS915247 a Special Forces truck hit a mine with the results 2 Mike Force KHA, 2 Mike Force WHA and 1 US Special Forces WHA evac to LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to Conduct Search and Destroy operation in their Area of Operation. At 1055hrs Alpha Company at BS585598 found Chi Com grenade in bushes destroy in place. At 1145hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS585605. At 1600hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS583603. At 2210hrs Alpha Company received 4 hand grenades inside the Night Lager Position and had eight personnel WHA 3 Dust Off, 2 WHA treated and returned to duty, 2 will be Dust Off at first light and 1 M-79 destroyed and 1 sick. SP4 Robert Etheredge, PFC Gary W. Bartow, PFC JERRY DOUGLAS CLARK (see April 11, 1968), and PFC Vernon L Rider where attached to the 27th Evac Hospital. SP4 Juan M. Agviler, PFC Russell Cockrell, SP4 Charles Johnson, PFC Jerry E. Denson, PFC Herbert W. Finney and PFC Jessie Grayson where attached to the 85th Evac Hospital on April 11, 1968.
Bravo Company

Delta Company 2nd Platoon conducted a Combat Assault to coordinates BS523698 and became OPCON to Bravo Company. Bravo Company continued their Search and Destroy operations in the Valley. At 1055hrs Bravo Company at BS545653 observed 10 VC moving northwest calling in Artillery and gun ships. At 1145hrs Alpha Company reports location at BS557637. At 1221hrs Bravo Company at BS546654 found a pistol belt with Chi Com Grenade and destroyed, also found 2 freshly dug graves. At 1300hrs Bravo Company reports their location at BS558638. At 1410hrs Bravo Company at BS539660 reports 1 WIA minor. At 1519hrs Bravo Company found 17 57mm RR rounds, 10 B-40 pr RPG rounds, 2 Shape Charges 30 pounds each will destroy. At 1630hrs Bravo Company at BS543659 found 3 hand grenades (2 pineapple and 1 homemade), 3 K-44 clips with ammo and 5 bar magazines with ammo, 1 AK47 clip. Various documents, 14 pack with canteen, 3 Vietnamese medical bags, clothing some gray uniforms. At 1649hrs Bravo Company at BS539660 engaged 2 VC with results 1 KIA and searching for other. At 1740hrs Bravo Company at BS530662 found in cache 150 Chi Com Hand grenades, 9 RPG, 12 82mm mortar, rounds mixed with HE and WP will destroy. PFC Robbie R. Watson was attached to 2nd Surgical Hospital.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Black. At 1300hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS561602.
Delta Company
April 10, 1968
At 0853hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon Combat Assault to LZ BS523698 and became OPCON to Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry. At 1200hrs Delta Company (-) conducts a Combat Assault List lift LZ 1228hrs, slick received fire with negative hits, and 2nd Lift at 1242hrs. At 1205hrs Delta Company at BS501660 found a well used trail running northwest trail starts at BS501660, also found 40-45 bunkers in same area with trails around them didn’t appear to have been used in approximately 30-45 day. Found another trail running northeast starting at BS505665 run in to 3 NVA/VC coming toward us engaged 1 KIA with documents and weapon. At 1250hrs Delta Company at BS505666, located recently VC Base Camp looks like a large training center with large banners and training aids. At 1434hrs Delta Company at BS523685 engaged 3 VC KIA, 3 weapons CIA dressed in grayish green uniform, with camouflaged headgear and camouflage scarf’s and Type of weapons 1 45caliber pistol, 1 US carbine, and 1 AK 47. Delta Company (-) continued searching and sweeping area VC Base Camp spotted 3 individuals in green uniforms with weapons coming up the ridge, didn’t fire possible friendly. They spotted Delta Company they evaded to southwest (NVA/VC) took under fire about 300 meters downhill getting dark will pick up trial in the morning.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at Nghia Hanh where Battalion Forward is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear and S-4 section established the Rear Forward location. The 4.2 Mortar Platoon is moved to LZ Black at BS568806 where the continued their direction fire support for Battalion Operations. At 1300hrs Recon Platoon is located at BS615640.
